A few close friends and family helped me celebrate the publication of my book Rurally Screwed over the weekend.
Little girls gave good face to the camera.
Big girls gave good face to the wine bottle.
A short speech was made thanking everyone for not splattering me with tomatoes. A year without Jake, putting so much of myself out there in a book, trying to transition back to “normal” life after Jake’s return…..I became kinda emotional when trying to get it out.
It was also a warm welcome home for Jake from Afghanistan.
And here’s a picture of Solha. Just because she’s cute.
It was a wonderful time….thank you, everyone, for coming out to celebrate!

I finished the book this afternoon. I’m so glad it had a happy ending! I got a kick out of your wanting to go to McDonald’s to celebrate. It brought back memories of being young with so little extra money that a McDonald’s outing was a real treat, and you know what? It was so much fun to get to go somewhere that I think we had as much fun as we do now going to a better restaurant. After all, it’s the company you’re in, right?
Jessie,
Thank you for sharing. What a great family.
Wish I could of been there x
The three of you all deserve it. What a year you had!
Jessie and Jake: here is a link to an excellent article about military families – I thought you might be interested.
