The fifty birds we’re raising for meat are growing very quickly….so quickly that space in the chicken tractors is already becoming cramped! Twenty five chicks per sled is proving to be a little too cozy. So we already ordered materials to build two more chicken tractors this weekend….give these gents some elbow room!

We have 25 meat birds who are about the same age as yours. We end up freezing them for ourselves. My husband rigged up (out of scrap materials, like yours often does) a fabulous chicken tractor which he pulls around with his tractor. [read: wife doesn't have to struggle pulling it around the yard to fresh grass]. This new one has a plank for them to walk out themselves and an electric fence so they have a ton of room for grazing. We have yet to be able to train them to go back inside at night. We’ve been putting them in by hand. (Don’t know how long that’s going to last.) Hopefully no foxes or weasels with this new contraption. (All 25 chicks got hit last time around.)
Best way to have great eggs and meat! I am so mad at so called chicken farms in which the chicks never see the light of the day…
