It’s funny to think that up until two months ago, this was the only home Solha ever knew; a world of sand, dirt and dust — an unforgivable desert.
And here she is as of yesterday, running through the tall, green grass of Virginia and loving country life.

**LOVE**
You and Jake did the absolutely right thing bringing Solha home. That doggie grin is proof.
What a great photo. Thank YOU for asking for donations to bring her home.
I bet she loves eating that grass.
That picture makes me so happy! Thanks for sharing Solha with us!
That is great! What a happy photo to capture. I hope she is a happy pup in her Virginia home.
She must know she is the luckiest dog alive!!
You have to turn that picture into a poster!!!
Ditto on all the above!!
Nothing like a picture of pure doggie joy! Thank you for sharing this with us.
As a photographer (and longtime reader of your blog), I’m just laughing out loud at how great that shot of the dog in high grass is.
The moment was captured, all technique aside, and that’s the only thing that matters.
Well, well done.
Thank you, but I can’t take credit for that shot. My friend Anna, a gifted photographer, was visiting for Memorial Day weekend and SHE took it! I love that pic!
This brought tears to my eyes!!
She looks so happy. I have so enjoyed her adventure in coming to America and all her funny escapades. So glad she is here and and loving her new life.
Blessings
Diane
She’s an exuberant spirit, and smart and friendly and sweet and she is thriving under you and Jake’s good care. She has come a long way!
She most certainly has, Becca!
Such a beautiful happy dog! In the pictures of them together, you could tell how much Jake and Solha loved each other. it just shined.
I should have also mentioned that looking at the picture of Afganistan, Jake must be beyond thrilled to be in Virginia enjoying the greenery too. I liked the picture of him, June and Solha out for a walk, back at home.
Jake, thank you for your service. You gave up so much time from your family and your business to defend our country, not to mention putting your life on the line. Glad you’re home.
Ohhhhhh, the photo completely choked me up, so beautiful and a lovely representation of doggie joy. It makes me feel so happy to see Solha girl running for the sheer joy of it.
I’m late to the game, but damn, look at that dog’s smile!
That is just Awesome! choked me up too. Thanks for sharing that photo.
