I’ll be signing and selling copies of my book, Rurally Screwed, at the fancy South County Library in Roanoke this evening, Tuesday, May 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. I’ll also have copies of my cookbook Tart & Sweet for sale, as well as a few samples of prepared recipes from the book. Details and directions here.
Then on Thursday, May 31, I’ll be giving a short talk and a reading from Rurally Screwed at the Catonsville Public Library up in Baltimore (Jake’s home turf) at 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Details here!
Hope to see you there!
(If you can’t make either event, feel free to give a listen to my recent interview with local NPR affiliate WMRA here.)

Just listened to your radio interview and I loved it. It was great to actually have a physical voice to go with the rest of you!
I agree! I need to go buy your book! Great interview.
Just finished reading your book and thoroughly enjoyed it, and look forward to another (hint, hint)! I was also so moved by Solha’s story that I emailed Nowzad’s website to everyone I knew. I only follow one other blog, and I am enjoying yours. It’s a refreshing, realistic view on life. Keep up the great, entertaining work.
Awesome. Thank you for the feedback, Janet! I’m sure Nowzad appreciates your forwarding their URL too!
I enjoyed hearing you very much. And now I know how to pronounce your name—-long A!
Just listened to the radio interview. No cringe needed – it was great! Thought the Dixie Chicks tunes were a fun touch. Enjoyed hearing what you sound like.
Thanks, everybody, for the feedback. You’re all too kind. I am very lucky to have such nice readers.
I attended your reading and book signing in Roanoke. Went home and consumed your book in 3 days. It was such a soul-bearing love story that I identified with on several levels. I dated a VMI cadet for 2 years but married someone else – a country boy and I was a city girl. Learned gardening, canning and to like bluegrass music! A little about moonshine, too. Know most of the Lexington and Rockbridge Co. sites you mentioned – including the WalMart. Continued success with your writing and family life.
Thank you so much for such great feedback, Sherry!
Jessie,
I was at your book signing in Roanoke (the lady who lived two years in Missoula!) I hadn’t started the book at the time, but have since read it in a short 3 days. It was absolutely wonderful. I was born and raised in Franklin County so I loved the moonshine plug. I could also really relate to how you had to re-find yourself and ultimately become happy knowing it will always to be journey of self discovery. Hope to read more soon!
