Thanks, everyone, who came out for my Rurally Screwed book signing at Books & Co. in Lexington, VA on Friday. Much jam (courtesy of recipes from Tart & Sweet), cheese and wine was consumed. Saw plenty of old friends and made some new ones. A good time was had by all, especially me.
Next stop: Wichita, Kansas.
I love Wichita, Kansas. You know why? People are insanely nice there. And there is waiter service at movie theaters. Yes,that’s right, you can order a cheeseburger and nachos from your seat at Warren Theatres in Wichita and a waiter in a dinner jacket brings it to you. It is a phenomenal concept. (There is also a crazy good donut shop in Wichita called The Donut Whole I plan to hit.)
So I am going to try to squeeze in a movie and a couple three four donuts while in Wichita. I’ll be there for a book signing and reading from Rurally Screwed at Wichita’s famed independent bookstore Watermark, Wednesday, June 27, at 7 p.m., which had this to say about the book. If you’re in Wichita, come on by! I’m bringing donuts.
UPDATE: I’m not bringing donuts. Watermark features a top notch cafe already overflowing with pastries.

That’s great that the signing was a success. I hope it follows you all the way to KS.
Great chocolate shop as well – http://www.cocoadolce.com/
Fantastic salted caramels
Hi! I just finished Rurally Screwed, Loved IT! What a great story! Thanks for sharing your story with us! Good Luck!
I think my sister-in-law is going to go. Give her a hello for me!
The “Nifty Nut House” is one of my favorite Wichita, KS. places. It has bulk nuts and candy. Ditto the other comment on “Cocoa Dolce”. The best artisan chocolates anywhere.
I got a phone call during class today and surprise, surprise! Fort Bliss library bought a copy of your book, and they put it on hold for me! I got through parts one and two but now algebra calls. I have to say that this made me literally laugh aloud: “firm, weathered bodies that looked ready to wrestle a calf or eat more gravy.” For some reason the eat more gravy bit just…it’s just SO GREAT. I read that sentence like 3 times because I liked it so much.
Alright! Gravy eaters, unite!
And what a great event it was! I wonder if any of those tiny animals made it home with June… Lovely to meet you, and happy travels!
