Thank you, Watermark Books in Wichita, Kansas, for a great night!
Watermark is one of those book stores with a thriving reading community. They have something like ten to fifteen rotating book clubs to choose from at any given time and draw authors ranging from Elizabeth Gilbert to Amor Towles to Robert Goolrick; the store is a must stop for authors touring the midwest.
I was incredibly honored to be included.
Plus I brought many bottles of wine (you know, whatever it takes to grease the wheels).
The best part was getting to sign the wall! There’s a wall downstairs covered with the autographs of all the visiting authors. I meant to write something witty and profound but all I could come up with was “Watermark Rules.” A literary titan, that’s me.

I had fun at your Watermark reading, as I do at all Watermark events. Had a few kid-free hours this morning and tore through your book. It was a great read, and now I just subscribed to your blog, too. Thanks for visiting — and for bringing wine.
My pleasure, Laura! And I’m sorry we missed each other, Dawn!
Oh no – I’m so bummed! I live in Wichita and love reading your blog. I would have been super excited to have my book autographed. Lesson learned – if you really like someone it’s better not to go “off the internet grid” for too long because you never know what you will miss out on. I hope you are enjoying your visit to our city.
