Toddler bedroom makeover: Shopping words to live by

by Jessie K on September 25, 2012

Jake (of all people) gave me the best shopping advice the other day. Click here to read what it is. While you’re at it, check out the new carpet I purchased for June’s bedroom makeover. Thank you, Home Depot! (This is a sponsored post.)

I avoid carpet in my house not because of the dirt, dust and allergens, though they are important, especially if you have pets, but due to the toxins and glue in stain resistant carpets. Kids play on the floor till they’re about 9 or 10 years old. Spending so much time breathing in and touching these chemicals that have been linked to ADHD are one of the reasons I avoid carpets. If they are fire retardant, even worse. PCBs regularly show up kid’s blood tests sometimes up to 300 chemicals are in their tiny bodies.

Fun Jessie! There is something to be said for the warmth and comfort of carpet in the bedroom. Years ago I shopped carpet to have bound into area rugs, and that was the only time. So many choices!

And not all carpets are toxin-equal. Shaw carpets are made with health in mind through the entire manufacturing process. http://shawfloors.com/allergens

I know you have already purchased, yet have you heard of FLOR? http://www.flor.com/what-is-flor/ It might be a future option if you like the idea. Seems affordable too.

Love Jake’s advice and words. Describes the moment exactly that I just went through while purchasing a new heating and cooling system for my home. Quality is always a good decision.

He is right.. I bought a dodge neon once.. because it was interest free for 5 years.. I realized after I had it.. I was driving my old corolla more.. and figured out that I didn’t like the neon at ANY price. I am also experiencing it with the mountain bike I just bought. I spent about 650 dollars.. now I wish I had gone ahead and spent more.. because the last bike I had was a LOT nicer.. so.. you can see it coming.. I am thinking about getting another bike..haha.
