Jake has been spending every waking free moment (and there are not many of those) trying to finish the barn. This weekend, he finished siding it and cutting in all the windows.
Jake salvaged all ten of the windows from the trash. The trash! Someone threw away perfectly good brand new windows.
They still had the stickers on!
Goes to show, keep your eyes peeled and scavenge all kinds of finds.

This is awesome! So inspiring! Looks wonderful
There is an entire culture of getting stuff from the “transfer stations” in Fairbanks, AK – they even have a covered area where people can put things that others might want! We scored many things over the years including lamps, furniture, a mirror, and much more. I even knew someone who found a perfectly good, working computer. There used to be a blog all about clothes found at the transfer stations, but I can’t find it now.
Here’s one you might enjoy though: http://newsminer.com/pages/full_story/push?blog-entry-Visit+to+Dumpster+nets+score+of+a+lifetime%20&id=19068793&instance=blogs_editors_desk
I found it – “Arrogantly Shabby.” Fairbanks is a funny place…

my SIL has something called “the put-n-take” at their local dump where she has scored some great things as well as passed along things to others — it’s a great idea. your barn & its windows are great.
maybe Jake should build horse barns instead of fences for a living?! looks very cute.
