Little luxuries

I’m a big fan of nice soap. It’s not that expensive, smells divine and makes you feel great. Three of my faves: Kiss My Face, Dr. Bronner’s and a locally made oatmeal soap by New Beginnings Farm here in Lexington, VA that comes wrapped in pretty fabric and ribbon (I couldn’t find an online source for it). Fancy!

I couldn’t agree more with you about a nice bar of soap. With the holiday season approaching and all the buzz about getting the “right gift” for someone, I find a nice bar of soap a perfect gift. It comes smartly wrapped and you can find a bunch of different varieties reasonably priced at places like Marshalls or TJMaxx. That makes it a unique gift in my book!

Another great place for bargain luxury soap is Tuesday Morning. And Yardley English Lavender, which used to be only in drug stores, is now in Dollar General for a dollar all the time.

A friend of mine from high school and his entire family (wife and 8 kids!) make amazing soap from goat’s milk! http://goatmilkstuff.com/Soaps/

There is a goat’s milk soap factory near here, too, in the quaint historic downtown of Van Buren, Ar. They don’t have a website, but if you google The Soap Factory, Van Buren, AR, you will pull up the address and phone number.
I have used a lot of their products and they really work. They have specialized bars for everything—-acne control, moisturizing, rash healing, a gardener’s soap to ward off bugs, even a little tooth soap bar that you rub a wet toothbrush over. Lots of nice scents. NOT cheap, but all natural and good quality.

Caldwell-Massey makes a Devine soap too. My girlfriends are getting a bottle of wine, homemade pound cake & basket of soaps for Christmas.

I love their catalog for many hard to find, but nice to have, items. It’s about time to order some Welsh miners’ cakes to have with my tea! And lebkuchen !
