11 reasons to love Dolly Parton

by Jessie K on December 4, 2012

Dolly Parton has a new book out this month, Dream More: Celebrate the Dreamer in You  in which the “queen of country” drops rhinestones of wisdom about living a big, full life which presumably extends to chest size and hair volume.

I’m a huge fan of Dolly Parton — the self-effacing humor, the glittery get-ups, the way she rocks the mandolin…

See my reasons why here.

I had the pleasure of watching her and Burt Reynolds film “Little best whorehouse in Texas” from a wall in my apartment building. The two of them were so funny. I heard she modeled her look after the town trollop and laughed, only Dolly would ever do that or admit it later. she’s a character!

I saw her in concert with Kenny Rogers. She is fabulous! So funny, she said “You can imagine how much it costs to look this cheap!” I think she would be a wonderful friend.

Love her so much. Jolene is one of the best songs ever. She was on the Colbert Report last week promoting her book. Stephen admitted to having had a crush on her when he was younger, and he was completely flustered a time or two during the interview. They sang a song together and he had to play the guitar because her nails made it impossible for her to use that particular guitar.

Very familiar with the Imagination Library which I think will be her greatest legacy. If you have children in your life under 5 years of age you owe it to them to join the Imagination Library. Check Dolly’s website. Please.
