4 super easy ways to wear a silk scarf

by Jessie K on December 23, 2012

Jake and I are gearing up for a big purge of our house after the New Year so I’ve been going through a lot of my old stuff and stumbled upon a stash of vintage silk scarves. I love silk scarves but I rarely wear them because I’m afraid of looking stuffy and dated. But here are four chic and wearable ways to wear them.

_6984109The Cowboy. This is how I’ve been wearing my green silk scarf all week. Keeps my neck warm.

Vintage-ScarfThe Laverne & Shirley. This one makes more of a statement than the others but it serves a practical purpose — it keeps your hair out of your face.

The top scarf can be purchased here. I’m not sure where the others can be purchased, but any silk scarf will do. I don’t know what it’s like where you live, but gorgeous silk scarves always seems to be one of those things I can find for cheap at thrift shops here in town.

I, too, have a drawer full of nice scarves I rarely wear. Somehow, they just BOTHER me, I fell like I have something on me that is in the way.
I don’t understand the new scarves that are the latest rage, worn like the one in the third photo. They look like scarves for keeping warm, yet have been seen even last summer and with warm weather clothes.
Don’t worry about looking dated. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis wore a literal headscarf her whole life, and no one was classier.

I love them also…yet i hardly wear them. I did go to a vintage clothing store recently and bought a few more for my 6yo girls dressup bin. She uses them for everything! So fun. They are the shear 60s style square beauties that all the ladies at church used to wear. The ones with the beehive hairdos.

So did you get rid of them or keep them?

I kept two — one green silk and one plaid silk. I love em!
