It’s funny to think that since moving to the country a handful of years ago, Jake and I still have yet to receive a single Trick Or Treater to our home. I think it’s because we live too far out in the country and it’s a little Blair Witch for most.
Looks like we’ll be eating candy by ourselves again this year. Not that I’m complaining.

I came via Farmgirl Fare. Just wanted to say I love reading your stuff so far as much as hers. I can live vicariously through you both while I mark time in town until I get back out to the country again. It excites me when Im reminded there could be a future and compensation for me doing what I love which is gardening. Farmgirl even has me thinking about sheep and lamb production.
I am very interested in your journey with your book so I’ll be back. I come from a family of canners. Good luck.
Hi Beth: Thanks for reading! Good luck on your hopeful transition from city to country! All best, Jessie
It’s the same for us out here in no-man’s land, the only trick or treaters we get are the nieces and nephews who hit us, the in-laws, and the grandmother across the road in one fell swoop. Then they tackle the town 20 minutes away.
That doesn’t stop us from buying candy every year “just in case” knowing we can always eat it ourselves if no one else comes …. which they never do.
Cheers,
Danielle
Hi Danielle: This is the first year I blogged about not receiving any trick-or-treaters and wouldn’t you know it, WE RECEIVED THREE!!!! We have officially broken the seal.
