Selecting a color palette for a home is a tricky process. There are so many colors in varying shades and hues to choose from — literally thousands and thousands — that how on earth are you to know you’ve selected the “right” ones? And then determine the colors you’ve selected actually work together? It’s agonizing.
Finding reliable color palette resources online isn’t as easy as you’d think, so I was excited to stumble upon the awesome blog Color Collective created by Columbus-based graphic designer Lauren Willhite. Lauren started the blog in 2010 as a resource for designers in need of up to date color inspiration. She posts images from the Internet that inspire her and pulls a handful of colors from each image as swatches to clearly show the color palette. Genius.
Here are three Color Collective palettes that speak to me big time for a future living room..
And I thought this palette would be great for the girls’ room (I love saying that: “the girls’ room,” as in, I’m gonna have two of the little buggers…can’t wait!).
Now….in my perfect dream world, Lauren would also match these swatches to specific paint colors, but I suppose that is asking too much of any human being. Guess I’ll have to do that part on my own. But she’s just saved me months and months of hair pulling indecision and aggravation. I’ll be taking these images with me to the paint store. Thank you, Lauren, and love your blog!
