A month old already

by Jessie K on January 13, 2014

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHard to believe Katie is one month old today. Time has alternately flown and crawled-on-all-fours-with-bloody-knees by. Lets just say I’ve watched a lot of TV and done a lot of pinning these past 30 days.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI don’t want to jinx myself by saying this, but so far, she’s sleeping through the night well…considering she’s an infant.

She usually fusses anywhere from an hour to three hours beginning around 5 to 7 p.m. but is usually (not always, but usually) tuckered out by 9 or so.

I’m thankful for this because I know a lot of babies kick off their nightly fuss-a-than right when parents are ready to go to bed (I think that’s what June did but it’s already so hard to remember!).  I’ll take the early dinner hours any day.

Lately, she’s been falling asleep in our arms then I bring her up to bed with me. Occasionally, I can lay her in her bassinet by herself, but she often wakes up so I end up sleeping right next to her. As in, our foreheads are touching. Then she wakes up twice for nursing: Once at around 2 or 3 a.m. then again at around 5 or 6. Not bad!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThat’s my goal for month two: Get her to sleep in her own bassinet rather than falling asleep on mom or dad.

IMG_6562We both love the closeness but we also don’t want to make it a habit.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHere’s to a successful month two!

A month young already? Wow. Time does fly.
Thanks for sharing your journey and photos.
What does Solha think of Katie?

There are probably a lot of reasons why time goes by so quickly. I like to think time goes by so fast for two reasons:

time goes by quickly when we enjoy what we are doing; and secondly, time will fly by when we are healthy.

I see your dilemma. I was very good about having the kids from day one sleep in their own room in their own cribs, but I really regret not cherishing the time by simply holding them when they were asleep.
