Here’s a little update on Katie for those of you wondering: She is doing so great. I can’t imagine life without her. She’s my little “Kiki bird,” that’s what I call her. She’ll be five months old this month. She’s still sleeping like a champ….goes to bed at 7 p.m. and wakes up once at around 4 a.m. to feed then goes back to sleep until around 7 or 8. I stopped nursing about a month ago. I enjoy nursing, I actually love it, but it was really more about bonding than about sustenance so now Katie is a 100 percent Emphamil baby, and I’m totally fine with that. I’m not one of those women who beats themselves up about breast feeding versus not breast feeding. Whatever works, I say! June is completely wild for her. She gives Katie her pacy. She helps her hold her bottle. She cuddles with her and plays with her. When I drop June off at Montessori, she’s eager to show “her baby” off to all her little buddies. It’s so fun. Kids are so wonderful. I can’t imagine life without them.
As you may have noticed, I haven’t been posting much because I have such little time these days (also working on a book). I thought it was going to kill me to ease off my daily posting schedule but it’s actually been okay. I feel a lot less stressed and frazzled knowing that at the end of the day I can sit out on the front porch and enjoy the sunset with Jake enjoying a cocktail (what we sipped last night) and not have to worry about losing myself in the void of the Internet. Does anyone else ever feel like that? Like we’re all helpless slaves to the Interwebs?
