Family planning by way of the Dollar Store

I thought the Dollar Store was only good for past-their-prime tinned beans, gift bags and refillable butane lighters, but I just learned that the discount repository sells pregnancy tests as well.  For $1…naturally.

I know this because my friend Amy, who recently suspected she was pregnant, went to the Dollar Store and happened upon a pile of tests. She bought two. For $2.  You know, just in case one had been tampered with….or dropped into the Pacific Ocean during its transport from some Mexican village to the United States.

Well, both tests came out positive. As in, positively pregnant.  Skeptical of the Dollar Store results, her husband Tom high-tailed it to the nearest drug store and shelled out $12 for a third test, thereby negating the purpose of buying Dollar Store tests in the first  place.  It too came out positive.

What’s more, the results of a blood test performed by her doctor came out positive.

Yes, indeed…..Amy is pregnant. Four months along now.

So if you think you’re pregs and are trying to save cash, consider the fertility aisle at the Dollar Store.  I’m just saying.
